-Kvetch by Steven Berkoff
Kvetch opened in Reykjavík in October 2002. The play is a powerful modern farce, dealing with the lives of Frank and Donna and their friend Hal. It is the first time a play by Steven Berkoff is performed in Iceland and what a success it became! The play was the winner at The Icelandic Theatre Awards 2003, winning the group 4 awards; Production of the Year, Director of the Year (Stefan Jonsson), Actress of the Year (Edda H. Backman) and Supporting Actor of the Year (Olafur D. Olafsson). The reaction was overwhelming and Kvetch ran for 14 months in Reykjavik.
What the critics said:
“...everything came together to make a production which is an exceptional success..”
“...incredible energy which is used in favour of the production..”
“...the actors are as good as one could dream of and I predict that the audience will never forget the magnificant performance of Edda H. Backman (Donna)...”
“...long live grassroot theatre! All should see Kvetch!”
